Wrightsville Beach Challenge Reduced in Length

Kayak Race Adjusted to Meet the Needs of Local Paddlers

 

Wrightsville Beach , NC , April 12, 2005 - On Saturday, April 30th, 2005 , Salt Marsh Kayak Company will host the 1st Annual Wrightsville Beach Challenge. The kayak race was originally scheduled to be a 10-mile circumnavigation of Wrightsville Beach , but has been scaled back to meet the needs of local paddlers. The new course starts at Salt Marsh Kayak’s sound-side facility at the Blockade Runner Hotel ( 275 Waynick Blvd. ), proceeds ocean front to Johnnie Mercer’s pier, and then returns to the company’s facility which is across the street from the Blockade Runner Hotel. The new route is approximately five miles long.
